Lime Slurry Plants – Promimex Solutions

At Promimex, we design and manufacture automated lime slurry preparation plants, tailored for industrial processes that require precise and continuous dosing of quicklime, whether from fine or granular lime.

At Promimex, we design and manufacture automated lime slurry preparation plants, tailored for industrial processes that require precise and continuous dosing of quicklime, whether from fine or granular lime.

Our systems are 100% automatic and capable of operating at capacities ranging from less than 1,000 kg/day up to 40,000 kg/h in calcium oxide (CaO) and up to 70,000 kg/h in calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂). We incorporate dilute phase pneumatic conveying technology for efficient unloading from tanker trucks.

Promimex offers flexibility in construction materials, adapting each solution to corrosive or demanding environments, with options such as SAF2205 (Duplex), AISI 904L stainless steel, among others. Additionally, our systems are designed with a dual interlock operational philosophy to ensure safe control during the slaking reaction.

Typical Scope of Supply

Our lime slurry plants typically include the following components:

  • Lime storage silo or hopper
  • Dust collection system
  • Silo/hopper bottom activator or vibrator
  • Pneumatic conveying system for lime loading
  • Feeding system with different configurations:
    • Volumetric screw feeder
    • Conveyor belt with belt scale
    • Rotary valve or a combination of the above
  • Lime slaking equipment (mill or slaker)
  • Vapor capture system
  • Classification system: cyclone battery (for mills) or screening system (for slakers)
  • Transfer pump and lime slurry loop
  • Transfer and storage tanks for lime slurry
  • Complete instrumentation package
  • Electrical power and control system

Available Preparation Types

a) From fine lime

Compact and fully automated solutions for producing lime slurry from fine lime (up to 12 mm). We use proprietary “Detention – Attrition” type slakers, designed to provide the optimal residence time for proper lime hydration, maximizing OH⁻ anion generation, and achieving efficiencies above 97%.

b) From granular or coarse lime

Systems designed to handle low to medium reactivity coarse lime, with particle sizes up to 1 ½”. Our automated plants integrate horizontal or tower-type lime slaking mills, which hydrate the lime and grind the silica grit naturally present in CaO, incorporating it into the process without affecting operation.
